Ways to Reduce Sediment Loss on Building Sites

Soil erosion is just one of the results that you can expect to naturally on a construction, quality control, site. This occurs after the land is dug up and excavated to create a sort of foundation for the construction project. Concrete, quality control, projects require that, after all. Without a foundation rooted deep enough into the earth, there is no way that a structure can last long without collapsing under its own weight especially if the structure is several stories high.

Soil erosion can result to sediment loss. Sediments are just some of the things that are dug up from the top soil during ground-breaking procedures. Sediment loss occurs when these stones that resulted from soil erosion escape from the jurisdiction of the construction site. When this happens, undesirable results can be expected especially when sediments find their way into the local storm sewer systems. These results would include the following:

Failure to do so can, quality control, result to fines, not to mention their responsibility to undertake cleanup procedures to remove the sediments from the water system. This is not an, quality control, easy or cheap task to undertake, so it is always in the best interest of the firm to take preventive measures with regards to sediment control in their, quality control, sites.

Options for Sediment Loss Control Measures

There are several measures that a company can use in order to prevent sediment loss and minimize the results of soil erosion within their construction sites. Here are just some of, quality control, them:

Erosion Control Mats. These are mats designed to hold the remaining soil in place and prevent further erosion due to rains especially when, quality control, construction takes a long time to complete.

Stabilization, quality control, and Establishment of Exit points for Sediments. In this measure, you are identifying possible escape point for sediments and using barriers to stop them from escaping. You can then collect these sediments and store them.

Sediment Control Fences

Silt fences are readily available for a company to use in its sediment control measures. They are very effective at keeping back sediments from escaping from your construction site; moreover, they can be used for other purposes:

Safety fences to prevent motorists from accidentally hitting the site and being injured. Brightly colored banners that are wrapped around the fences make it possible for, quality control, them to be spotted at night.

The banners can also be used to advertise the company. All a company has to do is print its contact information and name in the banners that are used in silt fences.
